Ushuaia – the southernmost city in the world
If you really want to add to your panoply something as the “…city in the world”, then Ushuaia should definitely make it on your travel agenda at some point as the southernmost city in the world and the capital of the Tierra del Fuego province
If you do manage to reach Ushuaia and plan on spending about three days there, here are the trips we propose for you:
- A track in the Tierra del Fuogo National Park. Something you can do in your first day at Ushuaia, so as to get used to the scenery around you, as well to the idea that you are in Tierra del Fuogo and around the southernmost city in the world. While the park is quite large (a 60 kilometers stretch north to south), it reaches the outskirts of Ushuaia, so you don’t have to travel so much. You can make it fun by taking the End of the World Train, which runs about 5 kilometers to the park.
- Penguins, sea lions and birds, oh my…. For about 160.00 ARS (about $60), you can witness all of these wonderful creatures that you might not see in other environments. Certainly, you can go on the Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco and see the sea lions there, but it’s not the same thing. With the penguins, it’s a different love affair and it finally makes real all those evenings spent in front of Animal Planet.
- Kayaking on Lake Fagnano Nunatak (http://www.nunatak-patagonia.com/ ) is a company that organizes different tours in Patagonia. The one I propose costs about 200,00 ARS ($65) and includes driving with Jeeps in an amazing scenery, a picnic in the nature and kayaking on Lake Fagnano.
